Perpetual Ponderer

Mind Unleashed

Vice & Virtue

I can only say it the way I see it. I can’t assume that everyone thinks the way I do and make broad sweeping generalizations, then expect everyone to understand me. So today, I’ll just say it the way I feel it.

I think people expect so much from each other. They become so disappointed when someone lacks some qualities or has some character flaws. But how I see it, no one is perfect. Everyone will have their flaws. Think about someone that you admire, and tell me honestly, is there absolutely nothing you would change about that person? I know I always can point out something. Too demure, too pompous, not intuitive enough. These are just images that bounce of the mirror of my own eyes. An absolute reality is essentially impossible when describing human qualities.

This isn’t an argument for us to deny what we see as possibly false, but a plea for us to appreciate the good. I feel like some people can really hate another, and its difficult for me to understand. Animosity for someone won’t make them see things the way you do. People will always do things that upset you, but hating them for it won’t make you feel any better. You might run across someone with qualities that you like, but someday, they might do something that will hurt you. The definition of being human is to make mistakes. Just appreciate them for their good qualities, let them know how you feel, and see where it goes from there. Virtues should be appreciated, not expected. Its the flaws that make us unique and beautiful.
